After starting the season on a 3-1 tear, the Lakeview Sailors have come back to Earth with consecutive losses.

After losing to Linesville almost two weeks ago, the Sailors (2-3, 3-3) dropped a 33-18 decision to Region 1A foe Sharpsville (2-3, 2-4) Friday night at ‘The Pines.’

Freshman Lucas Reddick hauled in three passes for 76 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Lakeview offense.

Reddick scored on 32- and six-yard scoring strikes from Adam Koontz, who scored the Sailors’ only other TD on a 85-yard kickoff return.

Thomas Miller returned from a missed week of action to rush for a team-high 127 yards on 23 carries. On the season, Miller now has 1,076 yards.


ä Grove City Invitational — At Grove City Memorial Park, the Eagles edged rival Slippery Rock 64-65 to claim the team title Saturday.

The Eagles were paced by top-10 finishes from Jacob Kildoo (first, 16:46), Tom Bollinger (third, 17:33) and Ryan Sestak (sixth, 17:46). Jon Stewart (23rd, 18:30), Ethan Smith (31st, 19:14), Blaise Bucha (36th, 19:36) and Sen Lee (40th, 19:49) also put forth top-50 efforts for GC.

Meanwhile, the Rockets had six runners in the top-25. Nate King led the way with a second place finish in 17:27 with Owen Bowser (fifth, 17:41), Jackson Udy (18th, 18:13), Jacob Spurk (19th, 18:17), Eddie Schreiber (21st, 18:25), Dan Hartzell (22nd, 18:28) and Nathan Eilenfeldt (24th, 18:33) following him across the finish line.


ä Grove City Invitational — At Grove City Memorial Park, Grove City (67) and Slippery Rock (99) finished third and fourth, respectively, behind Trinity (43) and Avonworth (47).

Grove City was led by Sara Chuzie (seventh, 21:28), Becky Consbruck (10th, 21:54), Jonna Schaper (14th, 22:26), Chelsie Hensel (17th, 22:34), Meghan Boarts (19th, 22:41), Nicole Wizorek (26th, 23:23) and Rebecca McClure (32nd, 23:51).

Andrea Shaffer (sixth, 21:20), Calley Bridges (eighth, 21:44), Susan Timko (21st, 22:45), Alexis Reeher (30th, 23:43), Brittany Richter (34th, 23:57), Kayla Brendlinger (35th, 23:58) and Anna Timko (25:21) led the Lady Rockets.


ä Grove City 3, Titusville 0 — Darcie Holmes posted eight saves as Grove City cruised to the Region 1AA win.

Elise Homan got the Lady Eagles on the board with a goal with 11:15 remaining in the first half. Midway through the second half, Christy Allison converted a beautiful cross from Sammi Laurence for a 2-0 edge before Jamie Dillaman closed out the scoring almost 10 minutes later.
