Girard 43, Grove City 35 — In Erie County Monday night, the visiting Lady Eagles ended with their first setback of the season after scoring only 11 second-half points. The inter-region rivalry was knotted at 24-all at halftime. irard garnered 9 of 14 free-throw attempts, compared with Grove City's 5-for-8 effort. Grove City (6-1) was led by Brenna Deyarmin and Jordyn Wyllie, who went for 14 and 13 points, respectively. Stuart scored a dozen and Welch went for 10 for Girard, and the Yellow Jackets connected for four from beyond the arc. as did Grove City.
Sharpsville 52, Mercer 27 — At Sharpsville, coach Jeff Hanley’s Lady Blue Devils improved to 2-0 in Region 2-AA and 5-2 overall with the win over the Lady M?s (0-2, 2-6). Emily Anderson fired in 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to notch a double-double for Sharpsville. Also, Eugena Davies bucketed 12 points, dished out 4 assists and had 6 boards and Emily Grandy registered 11 points. Haylie Glass led the way for coach Aaron Cook’s Mercer High squad with 10 points.
Greenville 37, Lakeview 26 — At Greenville, the host Lady Trojans triumphed in the Region 2-AA affair by limiting Lakeview to 14 second-half points. Becky Fagley fired in 10 points for Greenville (0-1, 3-4), which finished 13 for 47 from the floor. Roni Gravatt garnered 10 tallies for Lakeview (0-2, 0-8). The Lady Sailors shot only 11 for 31 from the field.
Girard 55, Lakeview 14 - At Stoneboro, the Lady Yellowjackets jumped out to a 17-0 lead and rolled to the win. Maria Welch led Girard with 12 points. Hailee Foster was the top scorer for Lakeview with 6 points.
Sharon 60, Mercer 49 — At the County Seat, the visiting Lady Tigers tallied 16 of 23 free-throw attempts to annex the Region 2-AA season-opening win. Mercer, conversely, converted only 9 of 15 freebies. Sharon outscored Mercer 36-29 during the 2nd half. For Sharon (1-0, 4-2), Delisa Smith scored a game-high 23 points and Tamia Hopson hit for 18, while Kristina Jacoway joined in with 14. Collectively, they accounted for all of Sharon’s sin-stripe scoring. Hopson hit a trio of treys. Mercer (0-1, 2-5) was led by Haylie Glass’ 18 points and Kelsey Swartz’s 14. Swartz struck five treys.
Slippery Rock 43, George Junior Republic 29 — At Grove City, the Rockets jumped out to a 16-9 lead after the opening 8 minutes and rolled to the Region 5-AAA win over the Tigers (2-2, 3-4). Brady Kadlubek and Ryan Dutton both scored 10 points for the Rockets. Lamier Barnes and Juan James led GJR with 11 points each.
Mercer 47, Greenville 36 — At Greenville, the Mustangs of Coach Doug Schmid exploded for 24 points in an otherwise defensive game to roll past the home-standing Trojans in a Region 2-AA match-up. Mercer (2-1, 3-4) was paced by Logan Clarke with 19 points, while Jake Schmid added 11 and Jonathan Sheidhauer 10. For Greenville (1-1, 2-3), Aaron Emmett led with 13 markers.
Lakeview 47, Wilmington 46 — At Stoneboro, the host Sailors survived by outscoring Wilmington 18-8 during the decisive final frame. Jake Doddo drilled 11 points to lead Lakeview (1-2, 3-3) to the Region 2-AA win, while Anthony Bigley bucketed a trio of triples for 9 and Matt Partridge also pumped in 9 for Coach Gary Burke’s bunch. Spencer DeMedal deposited a game-high 18 points for Wilmlngton (1-1, 1-3), tossing in two treys, but was the Greyhounds’ lone double-digit score. Wilmington was able to score only 14 second-half points, allowing a 32-24 margin at intermission dissipate into defeat.
Slippery Rock 50, Hickory 29 — At The Rock Box, Jake Whitmer went for a game-high 18 points, Ryan Dutton deposited a dozen, and Brady Kadlubek contributed 11 for Slippery Rock. Whitmer was good for 4 buckets from beyond the arc. Hickory had an 8-7 lead after 8 minutes, but the visiting Hornets scored only 21 points during the next 24 minutes of the Region 5-AAA affair. Brandon Beader bucketed 9 points for Hickory (0-3, 1-5).
