MERCER — Route 158 in Mercer and East Lackawannock Township has been reopened by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
The route was closed earlier this summer to replace the bridge that carries Route 158 over Brandy Run, near the entrance to Brandy Springs Park in Mercer. That replacement project has since been completed, according to a PennDOT release issued Tuesday.
The original 94-year-old bridge was built in 1926 and was classified as being in poor condition. The bridge had an average use of about 1,750 vehicles a day, according to PennDOT.
