GROVE CITY – A Grove City man is accused of threatening his pregnant girlfriend with a loaded pistol during a domestic dispute at their home.
Brian John Campbell Jr., 29, was charged Sunday by Grove City police with aggravated assault, making terroristic threats, and recklessly endangering another person.
He was arraigned Sunday by District Judge D. Neil McEwen, Pine Township, and returned to Mercer County Jail after failing to post bond.
His preliminary hearing is set for 2:30 p.m. July 10 with McEwen.
Police were called to the Gilmore Avenue home at 9 p.m. Saturday for a domestic incident.
The woman told police that Campbell pointed a loaded 9mm handgun at himself, then pointed it at her, police said in the criminal complaint.
She reported that an argument started over a nursing book she was reading. Campbell screamed at her, threw clothes at her, and hit her in the face, “smacking her glasses off.”
The woman said that she pleaded with him to leave, and he refused, grabbing the pistol and saying that he “can end this real quick.”
Campbell was holding their 2-year-old son when he pointed the weapon at his own head.
The woman said that her phone was downstairs, so she couldn’t call for help at that moment. She tried to grab the gun from Campbell, who pointed it at her.
She was then able to take the gun out of his hand, putting it out of his reach and trying to take the child from his arms, police said.
Campbell pulled her hair, and she bit his arm to break free.
The woman said that Campbell used his phone to call 911, and she was able to get her child to safety, police said.
