GROVE CITY – April 20 is the magic day: The Grove City Historical Society will reopen for the season from noon to 3 p.m., observing CDC safety guidelines.
Newsletter Coordinators Becky Sopher and Barb Frankenburg reminded the society recently that “there are always new displays being presented, new items being added to collections, and always something you may have not noticed on a previous visit. Challenge yourself to bring a friend who may have never visited and introduce them to the treasure that the Grove City Historical Society and Museum is for the Grove City community.”
April also is National Volunteer Month. If we have learned nothing else during this past year of isolation, we have learned how much we need other people, and how much others need us. The society says it is blessed to have over 50 people who volunteer in some capacity, and more are always needed.
The three-hour commitment you make once a month can be as simple as guiding a visitor from room to room or dusting exhibits to something slightly more complicated. It’s your choice. A volunteer is always paired with one or two other people so volunteers are never alone in the building.
Those who volunteer have a stake in preserving the history of the Grove City area.
