Westminster hosts concert, fireworks July 3

NEW WILMINGTON - Westminster College is hosting an old-fashioned Independence Day celebration with a free concert and fireworks at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 3 at Brittain Lake.

Master of ceremonies for the 23rd annual event is Gene DeCaprio. The River City Brass Band will play a variety of music with an emphasis on patriotic songs.

Additional music will be provided by the Pittsburgh Firefighters Memorial Pipers Band and vocalists Kathy Mansell and recent Westminster graduate Ali Pabrinkis. A color guard from the Pennsylvania National Guard will present the flag.

Come early for a seat and bring blankets, lawn chairs and your picnic basket. Food vendors will also be selling refreshments.

The evening ends with a fireworks display by Pyrotecnico. In case of rain, the concert will be held in Anderson Amphitheater. Visit www.westminster.edu/july3 for more information.

Grove City celebrates with fireworks Wednesday

GROVE CITY -- Grove City celebrates the Fourth of July on Wednesday with a community patriotic celebration at 8 p.m. at Grove City College's football field, featuring the Harrisville Community Band and the Olde Town Harmony Barbership Chorus.

Fireworks by Kellners will begin at 10 p.m., courtesy of Grove City Borough and Pine and Springfield townships.

Harrisville all-day celebration is Wednesday

HARRISVILLE -- Here is the schedule for Harrisville Community Day on Wednesday, July 4: 9:30 a.m. volleyball; 11 a.m., parade starting at Harrisville Fire Hall; noon -- events start at the park; 1:30 p.m. -- tractor parade in front of bandstand; 2 p.m., Synergy baton routine; 2:30 p.m., Teeth (band); 3:30 p.m., pet parade in front of bandstand; 5 p.m., Bailey Downs (classic rock/country band; 6 p.m., Devin Knight, magician; 7 p.m., Renegadez country/classic rock band; 9:30 p.m., fireworks by Zambelli.

All-day events include a Chinese auction with- drawing at 9 p.m.; balloon sculptures by Dragonfly Balloons; crafters and food vendors; disc jockey; bingo/dunking booth by Boy Scout Troop 380 and rides.

Franklin hosts week-long Fourth of July celebration

FRANKLIN - Franklin is holding Fourth of July festivities  through July 6. Events include live music, sidewalk sales, the History Channel Great Race, children's activities and food. Fireworks are at dusk July 4 at Riverfront Park.

Celebrate the 4th of July Cedar Point style

SANDUSKY, Ohio -- At Cedar Point the Fourth of July brings fireworks, barbecues, thrills and more.

All men and women of the Armed Forces are invited to receive free admission to the park from today through July 4 and can purchase discounted tickets for family members. Please present a valid Military ID at the Gate. Accepted IDs include: Active Duty ID, Retired Personnel ID, VA Medical System Picture ID, Copy of DD-214 discharge papers. Also, until July 4, all guests are invited to enjoy Picnic at the Point, an all you can eat buffet-style picnic. Fireworks will be at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
