SLIPPERY ROCK – Now that school is out, it’s time for Slippery Rock Area School District students to participate in the summer lunch program.
Sponsored by the Feed My Sheep Food Cupboard in Slippery Rock, the program is supported by local churches, organizations and businesses.
It’s aimed at students who receive free or reduced-price meals at school, but kids 18 and younger who live in the district are welcome to join.
Nutritious lunches are served Monday through Friday during summer break at various locations.
In 2018, more than 3,000 meals were prepared and delivered by volunteers. Local restaurants and businesses help provide some of the food.
Groups, businesses or individuals who are interested in supporting the program or families who would like to receive meals for children should call 724-794-4777 for more information.
