SANDY LAKE – Summer Quest at the Lakeview Area Public Library, 3265 S. Main St. Sandy Lake, will celebrate “A Universe of Stories,” providing programming and activities for kids of all ages.

The fun begins June 25 and continues through Aug. 2. During the month of July families and kids can attend programs at the park in Sandy Lake on Tuesday mornings. Programs are geared for elementary age, but all ages are welcome. Preschoolers must be accompanied by an adult.

All programs are at the park from 10-11 a.m. unless otherwise noted. All programs are free to kids and families. Preregistration is not necessary for attendance at the programs.

Programs are as follows:

July 2 – “Outdoor Spaces” with Chris and Bernie Davis

July 9 – STEM activities led by Nancy Keeling

July 13 – Adam Swartz Puppet Show at Sandy Lake Community Days, 2 p.m. 

July 16 – Craft activity led by Katie Engstrom at the McQuiston Center in Sandy Lake.

July 23 – “Searching the Sky” presented by Jennnings Environmental Center

July 30 – Erie Traveling Zoo

The library’s regular Friday morning Story Time continues throughout the summer. Story Time meets at 10:30 a.m. with stories, crafts, and play designed for preschoolers. The program is led by Marilyn Snyder and Gloria McQuaid.

Students in high school and middle school can join a literature group for kids in sixth grade and older. The group is led by Pat Reash, and will read “Artemis Fowl.” Meetings are 1 p.m. Fridays, July 12, 19, 26, and Aug. 2 at the library. Participants can preregister beginning June 4 at the library or online. 

Kids and families are also invited to join the library’s Sailor Quest. Families and kids explore the Lakeview area looking for clues in businesses to points and prizes. Information available beginning June 25 at the library. 

The library will help kids complete activity logs throughout the summer to stay focused on learning while earning points and prizes. Kids can get logs at the library beginning June 25. There will be reading and learning activities for kids to complete throughout the summer.

For adults, the library is offering the “Where in the World are you Reading this Summer?” event by posting pictures of places patrons are reading this summer on the library’s Facebook Page or at the library.
