BUTLER COUNTY — A Greenville man was killed Nov. 17 in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township, Butler County.

A sport-utility vehicle driven by Harry J. Hibbard, 58, was hit by a pickup truck driven by James E. Dapper, 58, of Zelienople, Butler state police said.

Hibbard, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene of the crash, which happened around 4:50 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the interstate at mile marker 97.4.

Dapper was heading south when his truck crossed the center median into the northbound lanes, where the truck and SUV collided.

Hibbard’s SUV was then hit by a northbound minivan driven by Yucheng Weng, 43, of Brooklyn, N.Y., police said.

All three vehicles had disabling damage and came to a stop in the northbound lanes.

Dapper was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital with suspected serious injuries. His passenger, Damian L. Altman, 25, of Beaver Falls, was treated at UPMC Jameson, New Castle, for unknown injuries.

Weng reported minor injuries, police said.

The police report did not indicate whether Dapper would be facing any charges.
