Grove City issued a boil water advisory Monday after high levels of coliform bacteria were found in the water supply.

Coliform bacteria is an indicator that other, potentially harmful bacteria might be present. Coliform bacteria can make people sick and is a concern for people with weakened immune systems.

Residents are advised to use bottled water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing clothes and preparing food, or boil tap water for one minute and let cool before using. Boiling kills bacteria.

Those with severely compromised immune systems, families with infants and some elderly should seek advice from their doctors about drinking water.

Increased disinfection of water is being implemented, and monitoring also has been increased.
