Grove City Medical Center's CEO, Robert Jackson Jr. (left), thanked the hospital's many volunteers at a recent banquet, including Skip Houston, Kate Thompson and Jane Hoyt, who were honored specially for their service.

The staff and administration of Grove City Medical Center feted volunteers at their annual honor event, which was held June 15.

Following the luncheon, volunteer treasurer Carol Lambert presented Robert C. Jackson Jr., CEO of the hospital, with a check for $22,000, which represented the proceeds from all GCMC volunteer fundraising efforts throughout the past year. Included in the $22,000 was $9,000 in profit from the GCMC volunteer coffee shop, Grand Grounds.

Fifty-two volunteers received gifts for contributing more than 100 hours of service to the hospital over the past year, with Kate Thompson and Skip Houston being honored as volunteers of the year. Thompson, who donated 366 hours, devotes her time to the Grand Grounds coffee shop and various miscellaneous volunteer initiatives. Houston, who contributed 458 hours of service, is an escort volunteer. Jane Hoyt received special recognition for 25 consecutive years of volunteer service, with at least 100 hours of service each of those years. She has worked in the hospital gift shop and now donates her time at the information desk.

In his message of gratitude, Jackson thanked the group for their generous donation as well as their gift of time and talents, which “helps us provide the best possible care for the good people of our community every day.”
