Stoneboro UM to host candlelight service

STONEBORO – Stoneboro United Methodist Church, 32 Lake St., Stoneboro will hold a candlelight Christmas Eve service and children’s program at 7 p.m. Dec. 24.

Christmas pageant set for Mercer church

MERCER – Children of Trinity Presbyterian Church, 110 E. Market St., will stage a Christmas pageant during the 11 a.m. service Sunday.

Music of the season, an organ-piano duet, and an Advent wreath candle-lighting ceremony will also be included.

Adult-supervised child care is provided. The church is accessible for all.

Following the service, a Christmas cookie fellowship will be in the social hall. People are invited to bring cookies to share. 

Alliance Church slates ‘New Wilmington Christmas’

NEW WILMINGTON – The New Wilmington Alliance Church, 127 N. New Castle St., New Wilmington, invites all to “A New Wilmington Christmas” at 6 p.m. Sunday.

The program will be followed by a time of refreshment in the fellowship hall. Children are welcome.

Prayer services slated for December

GROVE CITY – “Holden Evening Prayer Service” will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 819 Columbia Ave., Grove City, at 5:30 p.m. every Wednesday in December before Christmas (Dec. 12 and 19). All are welcome.

Faith-based support group meets on Thursdays

GREENVILLE – Shenango Valley Family Addiction Support, a faith-based ministry offering spiritual support to people and their families suffering from addiction, meets at 6 p.m. every Thursday at Eagle’s Nest Church, 99 Hamburg Road, Greenville.

Bible International group meets at Tower

GROVE CITY – Tower Presbyterian Church, 248 S. Broad St., is hosting a non-denominational Bible Study Fellowship International satellite group linked to the Pittsburgh area group.

It is welcoming new members at two discussion groups held at 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursdays during the school year.

Grieving support group meets at church

STONEBORO – If you or someone you know is grieving, the non-denominational Grieving Support Group meets at Stoneboro United Methodist Church (32 Lake St.).

They are more than happy to offer transportation for anyone who does not have a way to get there.

ROSES meet monthly for grieving spouses

PINE TOWNSHIP – ROSES (Reaching Out after Spousal loss for Education and Support) is a peer support group for women 60 and under who have lost a spouse or partner.

Meetings are 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at Grove City Alliance Church, 845 N. Liberty Road, Grove City.

Always Hope meets for loved ones of addicts

GROVE CITY – Always Hope, a support group for loved ones of addicts, meets at 7 p.m. the first and third Wednesday of each month at East Main Presbyterian Church, Grove City, on the lower level beneath the Fellowship Hall.

The mission of the group is to share, support and encourage one another with the issues surrounding addiction.

Each meeting lasts about 90 minutes. Confidentiality and trust are upheld, and has essentially been the success of Always Hope.

Grove City Alliance Church sets services

Grove City Alliance Church will hold Christmas worship services at 6:30 p.m. today and again at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday morning. Christmas eve candlelight services will be held at 9:30 and 11 a.m. Dec. 23 and at 4 and 5:30 p.m. Dec. 24.

Quartet to sing for church services

Barkeyville United Methodist Church, Pittsburg Road, Harrisville, will present the Glory Way Quartet at 10:45 a.m. Dec. 23 and 11 p.m. Dec. 24 during its candlelight Christmas eve service.

Methodists United in Faith slates holiday services

Methodists United in Faith is holding a community Christmas eve candlelight service at 7 p.m. Dec. 24 at the Stoneboro United Methodist Church located at 32 Lake St. in Stoneboro. The service will include choir and praise music, a Christmas children’s play and candlelight worship. All are welcome.

Trinity Church sets Sunday, Christmas Eve services

MERCER – Music will highlight the services at 11 a.m. Dec. 23 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 24 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 110 East Market Street.

Seasonal music and carols will be featured during the Sunday service. The fourth candle on the Advent wreath will be lighted during a ceremony featuring congregational and choir singing, accompanied by piano and hand bells.

The adult, children’s, and handbell choirs and the worship band will present special music at the Christmas eve candlelight service.

Organ, piano, instrument, and vocal music will precede the service.

The congregation will sing several carols, including “Silent Night” after individual candles have been lighted. To commemorate the 200th anniversary of “Silent Night,” the carol will be sung with guitar accompaniment, just as it was in 1818, when Franz Xaver Gruber composed the tune to accompany lyrics by Joseph Mohr.

The Rev. Dr. Catherine Craley, pastor, will bring the message at both services.

Adult-supervised childcare is provided, and the entire building is accessible to all.

Wayside Community Church slates Christmas services

Wayside Community Church located at 1911 Mercer Grove City Rd, Mercer, will be celebrating the Christmas season with the following services and programs:

• 10:30 a.m. Sunday – Adult Choir will present a selection of choral pieces from various cantatas that the choir has performed in previous years.

• 6 p.m. Sunday – Children will present their annual Christmas program of music and seasonal readings.

• 10:30 a.m. Dec. 23 – A worship service of lessons and carols.

• 7 p.m. Dec. 24 – Christmas eve candlelight service.

Handbell choir to perform at Sandy Lake church

The McQuiston Center, Sandy Lake, will be filled with handbell music Monday beginning at 11 a.m.

A musical program, under the direction of Jane Buckley, includes the Jackson Center Presbyterian Church handbell choir, as well as piano duets by pianists Jane Buckley and Harriet McLaughlin. There also will be an opportunity for the folks at the center to join in singing several songs.

Jackson Center church to hold Christmas services

Cary Cooper will be the guest violinist at the Jackson Center Presbyterian Church worship service at 9:15 a.m. Sunday.

On Dec. 23, Jackson Center Presbyterian Church worship hour will be a very musical service. Beginning at 9 a.m., pianists Jane Buckley and Harriet McLaughlin will play duets prior to the regular 9:15 a.m. starting time. The handbell choir will play selections, and the vocal choir will also sing that morning.
