The following are some upcoming outdoor activities, educational programs and festivals planned at area parks:
Jennings Environmental Education Center
Several events are planned at Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, Slippery Rock:
*Reptile seminar, 2 p.m. June 14. Cost is $5 for those age 15 and up, $3 for kids 7 to 14 and free for kids 6 and under. Info: 724-794-6011 or www.tasowfilms.com.
*Wildflowers of Summer, 2 p.m. June 22 and Aug. 17.
*Hide-n-seekers, Tuesdays, June 24 through July 22. Hands-on program themed “Lets Take a Look” is for kids ages 4 and 5. Activities, stories, crafts and more. Cost is $2 per child, per program.
*Fitness hikes, 6 to 7 p.m. June 25, Aug. 6, Sept. 3 and Oct. 1, 2è miles. Moderate difficulty; swift pace. Bring water and wear sturdy shoes.
*Outdoor Adventurers, Thursdays, June 26 through July 24. Kids ages 6 through 8 will explore flying animals through activities, crafts and a nature journal. Cost is $5 per child per program, or $20 for all five programs.
*Hiking with man’s best friend, 10 a.m. June 28. Bring your friendly family dog for 1è-hour hike.
M.K. Goddard State Park
M.K. Goddard State Park, 684 Lake Wilhelm Road, Sandy Lake, will host the following events this summer:
*Family Fishing Fun, 1 to 4 p.m. June 15, Environmental Learning Classroom at the Marina. Registration required; call 724-253-3296.
*Sixth Annual Pioneer Frolic at Lake Wilhelm Marina, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 21 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 22. Admission and parking are free. For information call the park office at 724-253-4833.
*Bats Around Us, 8 to 9:30 p.m. June 28, Environmental Learning Classroom at the Marina.
