Former George Junior Republic basketball standout Benson Callier is back with the Premier League’s Vermont Frost Heaves.

Callier, 26, was added to the team’s roster last month spending training camp with the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League.

Last season with the Frost Heaves Callier averaged 16.4 points per game and was named to Pro Basketball News’ All-Minors Team. Vermont's scoring leader in the 2008-09 season, he was also voted most valuable player by the team’s fans.

Callier holds the franchise's record for most points in a game (40) and most field goals in a game (19).

The Frost Heaves hosted the Manchester Millrats Tuesday night and will visit the Rochester Razorsharks at 7:35 p.m. Saturday and the Buffalo Stampede at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 13.

Callier returned to Mercer County this past summer and hosted a youth basketball camp at Grove City Middle School.

A 2002 graduate of GJR, Callier went on to play collegiately at Florida State and Western Kentucky.
