Slippery Rock junior Jeff Tracy edged Lakeview senior Darin Hovis by two strokes to earn medalist honors in the opening Region 2 match at Franklin’s Mount Hope Golf Course Friday.

Tracy outshot Hovis 69-71, while Titusville downed defending region champ Grove City 309-314 to take the team title.

Other team scores were Franklin’s 324, Meadville’s 331, Lakeview’s 332, Slippery Rock’s 337; Oil City’s 360 and Maplewood’s 365.

Derek Forese paced Grove City with a 73, while Ryan Prokay (77), Shane Gilmore (78) and Garrett Molloy (85) had solid outings.

Backing Hovis were Dylan Bertin (82), Brandon Mosley (87) and Mike McMullen (92).

? The Eagles, Sailors and Rockets were back in action Monday afternoon in the Region 2 match at Cross Creek Resort in Titusville.

Titusville increased its region lead to two points with a 302-315 win over Grove City, while Meadville (323), Slippery Rock (325), Franklin (326), Lakeview (349), Maplewood (375) and Oil City (392) rounded out the scores.

Region 2 standings are as follows Titusville (16), Grove City (14), Meadville (11), Franklin (10), Slippery Rock (eight), Lakeview (seven), Maplewood (three) and Oil City (three).

Forese led Grove City with a 69, while Prokay (75), Steve Deyarmin (85) and Garrett Molloy (86) also scored for Grove City.

Hovis paced Lakeview with a 78. Bertin carded an 86; McMullen recorded an 88 and Mosley added a 97.
