Marion W. Wherry of Bessemer Avenue, Grove City, passed away at 3:45 a.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010, in Orchard Manor, Pine Township, having been ill since December. She was 98.
Marion was born Sept. 3, 1911 in Coraopolis to Edna Weir. She was reared by her grandparents, John and Elizabeth Weir.
She married Elmer H. “Curly” Wherry on Oct. 10, 1929.
Mrs. Wherry was retired from George Junior Republic, Pine Township.
She belonged to Center Presbyterian Church, Grove City.
Surviving are: a sister, Alice Bucek and husband Steve, Moon Township; five grandchildren, Larry Houston and wife Tracy, Mercer; Kevin Houston and wife Debbie, Tallahassee, Fla.; Cindy Arner and husband Matt, Pittsburgh; Michael Dunn and wife Allison, Austin, Texas; and Doug McMullen and wife Linda, Mercer; five great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a son-in-law, Clair Houston, Mercer.
Mrs. Wherry was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three daughters, Allean Dunn, Donna McMullen and Irene Houston; and a brother, Daniel Jerrome.
Calling hours are 10 a.m. to time of service today (4-24-10) in Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.
Funeral service at noon today in the funeral home, with the Rev. William Woodman, pastor of Center Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Interment in Center Church Cemetery.
