John W. Thompson

1984 Grove City grad was teacher at Neshannock

Obituary was published April 14, 2010.

John W. Thompson, a resident since 1974 of Over Hill Drive, Grove City, passed away unexpectedly at 12:41 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010, in the hospital of Jameson Health System, New Castle. He was 44.

Mr. Thompson was born Dec. 4, 1965, in Grove City to John E. and D. Grace Couch Thompson.

A graduate of Grove City High School, class of 1984, he was an alumnus of Grove City College and earned his master's degree from Clarion University of Pennsylvania.

John was a biology teacher at Neshannock High School, where he had been an educator since 1994. He enjoyed his teaching career, his students and taking care of the greenhouse at Grove City College.

John was a member of Tower Presbyterian Church in Grove City.

Surviving are: his brother, David E. Thompson, Baltimore; and a niece, Kelsey Thompson; and nephew, Zachary Thompson, both Orwigsburg, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours were Sunday (4-11-10) in Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., Grove City.

Funeral service was Monday (4-12-10) in the sanctuary of Tower Presbyterian Church, Grove City, with the Rev. John W. Culp, pastor, officiating.

Interment in Crestview Memorial Park Inc., Pine Township. Memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to Grove City Community Library, 125 W. Main St., Grove City, PA 16127.
