Marian Rosalie Shuey Duda of Slippery Rock Road, Grove City, died Saturday afternoon, April 17, 2010, in Orchard Manor, Pine Township. She was 84.
Mrs. Duda was born May 10, 1925, in Gillespie, Ill., to George and Lula Blevins Shuey.
She was an alumna of Gillespie High School.
A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marian brought a smile to every situation. She encouraged others with her warm and caring nature and always looked for a reason to laugh.
Marian loved reading, cooking, sewing and dining out or spending time with her family. She especially loved being a mother and grandma and enjoyed watching her great-grandchildren play.
Marian married John C. Duda in 1945.
In her youth, Marian was known to enjoy playing softball and spending time with her 10 brothers and sisters.
She was a member of Church of the Beloved Disciple, Pine Township.
Mrs. Duda is survived by her husband, John, as well as her children and their spouses, Eileen and Larry Johnson; and Ronald and Linda Duda, all Slippery Rock. She is also survived by two grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Paula Duda; and Kimberly and Christopher Miller; as well as six great-grandchildren, Molly and Anna Miller; and Lauren, Mary, John and Mark Duda.
Additionally, Marian is survived by her sisters, Alberta Quirk, Joan Martin, Daisy Spendlove, Patricia Dillard and Diana Durbin, as well as her brother, Marvin Shuey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, LaVerna Caveny; and three brothers, Ted, Edgar and James Shuey.
Calling hours were Monday (4-19-10) in Ficca Funeral Home, Grove City.
Mass of Christian burial was Tuesday (4-20-10) in Church of the Beloved Disciple, Pine Township, with the Rev. Mark A. Hoffman, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment in Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township.
