Floyd C. McFarland Jr., a resident since 1954 of 908 N. Broad St. Ext., Pine Township, died at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008, in Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township. He was 80.
Mr. McFarland was born Sept. 25, 1927, in Springfield Township, to Floyd C. McFarland Sr. and Marie G. Stone McFarland.
He married Ruth M. Kennedy on March 10, 1951.
He was self-employed with McFarland Accounting and Tax Service, Grove City, semi-retiring in 1990, when his daughter Karen took over the reigns of the business.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City.
He was a World War II veteran and served in the Pacific with the Navy.
A graduate of Grove City High School, class of 1944, he served on the reunion committee.
He enjoyed golfing and woodworking and built musical instruments and furniture.
He and his wife spent time RV-ing and were members of 3 Rivers Winnie’s Camping Club.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth, at home; two children, Dennis M. McFarland, St. Stephen, S.C.; and Karen McFarland, Grove City; two grandchildren, Megan Rose McFarland and Ian James McFarland; two sisters, Barbara McFadden and her husband Gale; and Faith Shaw, both Grove City; and three brothers, Ronald L. and his wife Mary, Grove City; Richard L. and his wife Barbara, Houston; and David M. McFarland and his wife Liz, New Braunfels, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles R. and Raymond E. McFarland; and a brother-in-law, Donald Shaw.
Calling hours were Tuesday (5-13-08) in Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.
Funeral service was Wednesday (5-14-08) in the funeral home with the Rev. Frank Hodges, pastor of Bethany United Methodist Church, Portage, Pa., officiating, assisted by Rev. Willard Morse, visitation pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City.
