Evelyn R. Van Dyke

GCC retiree, homemaker enjoyed feeding birds

GROVE CITY — Evelyn R. Van Dyke, a resident since 1956 of Findley Township (Mercer), passed away at 9:53 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, in Trinity Living Center, Grove City, after an extended illness. She was 83.

Mrs. Van Dyke was born July 10, 1930, in Jackson Center to William and Barbara Deal Weaver.

She retired from Grove City College, where she worked in food service for 20 years.

A homemaker, she was of the Methodist faith. Evelyn loved her family and grandchildren and enjoyed watching and feeding birds.

Her husband, Earl E. Van Dyke, whom she married May 17, 1954, survives at home.

She also leaves three children, William Van Dyke and his wife Karen, Mercer; Edward Van Dyke and his wife Marna, Cochranton; and Patricia Johnson, Grove City; and seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Margaret Zahniser; and seven brothers, Charles, Raymond, Thomas, Clifford, Carl, Fredrick and Jack Weaver.

VAN DYKE

Mrs. Earl E. (Evelyn R.), 83, Findley Township.

Calling hours: Were Thursday (11-14-13) and Friday (11-15-13) in CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

Service: Funeral service was Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. G. Kenton Shaw, retired pastor, officiating.

Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Township.
