THE VILLAGES, Fla. —
John E. Patrick of The Villages, formerly of Grove City, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, in Summerfield Suites Assisted Living Facility. He was 105.
John, known as "The Mayor" and The Villages's oldest golfer, was formerly from Grove City and moved to The Villages to live with his son, Jim, in October 2005.
John worked in the engineering department for the former Cooper Bessemer Corp. in Grove City and Mount Vernon, Ohio, until he retired in 1970.
Moving back to Grove City, he started his second career as director of the Pine Grove Community Center and teaching golf to the local students until he retired again at the age of 95.
He loved being with his family and neighbors and the friends he met in his lifetime; he enjoyed dancing, traveling, reading, playing golf and bocce, bowling, Mexican Train, card games and bingo.
John had advanced to the fourth degree of Knights of Columbus and held the positions of grand knight and treasurer.
He enjoyed singing in church choirs and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Parish in Wildwood, Fla.
Survivors include his son, Jim and his wife Mary; a sister, Elizabeth Arrigo, Pittsburgh; and six grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren.
Besides his parents and his wife, the former Mary Bagnato, who died in January 1988, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary, Edith and Ann; and three brothers, Andrew, Albert and Carmen.

Service: Mass of Christian burial was Thursday (5-2-13) in St. Vincent de Paul Church, Wildwood, Fla., with the Rev. Ron Oser as celebrant.
A local memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Church of the Beloved Disciple, 1310 S. Center St. Extension, Pine Township, with the Rev. Michael P. Allison, pastor, as celebrant.
