GCC employee, '85 Mercer grad enjoyed the simple life

EAST LACKAWANNOCK — Shelly Ann Whenry Redmond of Bestwick Road, East Lackawannock Township (Mercer), passed away Monday evening, May 27, 2013, in her home after enjoying a special day with her loved ones. She was 46.

Mrs. Redmond was born Jan. 2, 1967, in Sharon, a daughter of William Matthew "Sonny" Whenry and Georgia Elizabeth Turner Whenry.

Shelly was a 1985 graduate of Mercer High School and was previously employed by Bon Appetit, working at Grove City College.

Shelly was loved by many and enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved to go camping with family and enjoyed making crafts.

Shelly was a very proud daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was the biggest supporter of her children, nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by her family.

Surviving are her husband, Charles W. Redmond, at home; her mother, Georgia Whenry, Mercer; four children, a daughter, Ashley E. Malone and her husband Anthony, West Middlesex; a son, Nick R. and his wife Marah, Hermitage; a daughter, Alisha R., Mercer; and a daughter, Abigail D., at home; and two grandchildren, Dominic and Mason.

She also leaves her brother, Rick L. Whenry and his wife Mary, Mercer; and a sister, Crystal Y. and her husband Jake Angermeier, Sharpsville.

She was preceded in death by her father, William.


Mrs. Charles W. (Shelly Ann Whenry), 46, Bestwick Road, East Lackawannock Township.

Calling hours: Family received friends Thursday (5-30-13) and Friday (5-31-13) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME OF LEESBURG, 1778 Perry Highway, Springfield Township.

Service: Funeral service was Friday in the funeral home, with Pastor Roger Overmeyer of The Oak Grove Church, Fairview Township, presiding.
