Army veteran was kiln operator, has family in GC

— Dale C. Hennon passed away Tuesday morning, July 30, 2013 at Orchard Manor in Grove City. He was 94.

Mr. Hennon was born on Aug. 30, 1918 in New Castle to the late Clarence and Mary Ellen Kelley Hennon.

He had previously served in the U.S. Army as a first sergeant.

Dale retired from his job as a kiln operator for Universal Rundle in 1982.

He was a member of the Hoover Heights Christian Missionary Alliance Church, New Castle. Dale also served as a member of the Shenango Area School Board for 34 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved golfing and bowling.

On December 24, 1938, Mr. Hennon married the former Doris Williams. She survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Doris Ketzel and her husband, Lee, Grove City; and Jeff Hennon, and his wife Jill, New Wilmington; a grandchild, R. Kelly Smith, and her husband, Brendan; and great-grandchildren, Torin and Dalee Smith.

Along with his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his son, Dale A. Hennon; a grandson, Randall L. Ketzel; two brothers, Clyde and Arthur Hennon; and a sister, Velma Pyle.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made in Mr. Hennon's honor to Orchard Manor Alzheimer's Unit 20 Orchard Dr, Grove City, PA 16127.

Calling hours: Family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. today (8-10-13) in Hoover Heights Christian Missionary Alliance Church 1947 Morris St., New Castle.

Service: Memorial service at 1 p.m. today in the church, with the Rev. Larry Llewellyn, pastor, and the Rev. Thomas Williams, brother of Mrs. Doris Hennon, co-officiating.
