Dixie Eileen Rihel McKnight of Boyers passed away at 6:14 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, in Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township, after an extended illness. She was 61.
Mrs. McKnight was born Feb. 21, 1952, in Grove City Hospital in Pine Township, a daughter of Paul M. Rihel and Hazel Miller Rihel.
Dixie graduated in 1970 from Moniteau High School, West Sunbury.
She worked at United Community Hospital, now Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township, for 30 years as a secretary in the emergency room, intensive care and transitional care units.
She was a member of Boyers United Methodist Church and a social member of Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department in Butler County.
Dixie married Ralph "Ed" McKnight on Nov. 25, 1972; he passed away Oct. 26, 2013.
She is survived by: a daughter, Mindy McKnight; and two sons, Adam and Ryan McKnight, all Boyers; a brother, James Rihel, Hilliards, Pa.; a sister, Ann Newburn and her husband Gene, Eau Claire, Pa.; a brother-in-law, Robert McKnight and his wife Erma, Grove City; two nephews, Jon Rihel, Eau Claire; and James McKnight, Grove City; a niece, Kristy Rihel Martino, Boyers; and several great-nieces and -nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Nathan Newburn. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department, Box 136, Boyers, PA 16020.

Interment: Old Annandale Cemetery, Marion Township, Butler County.
