Grove City borough retiree was wartime veteran

COOLSPRING — Guy M. "Bud" Winder of Coolspring Township, formerly of Memorial Avenue, Grove City, passed away at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, in Avalon Springs, Coolspring Township. He was 89.

Mr. Winder was born Aug. 26, 1923, in Grove City to Guy M. Winder Sr. and Catherine L. Perry Winder.

He was a graduate of Grove City High School, class of 1940.

Mr. Winder retired in 1985 from the Borough of Grove City, where he worked as a lab technician in its water and sewage department.

Bud was a member of the Army Air Corps, having served in both World War II and the Korean conflict.

He was a member of Center Presbyterian Church, Grove City.

His wife, the former Betty Mae Dearborn, whom he married March 10, 1948, passed away Oct. 21, 2012.

Surviving are two children, Donna Mae Beighley; and Tim Winder and his wife Bonnie, all Grove City; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, Bud was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clarence "Buzz" Winder; and a son-in-law, Barry B. Beighley.

Service: Private family service at 11 a.m. today (7-13-13) in CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, with the Rev. Lester Rowan, pastor of Wayside Community Church, Findley Township, officiating.

Interment: Crestview Memorial Park Inc., Pine Township.
