Mercer homemaker was good cook, liked outdoors

COOLSPRING — Emma E. Parker of Mercer, formerly of Jefferson Township, passed away at 1:52 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, in Avalon Springs, Coolspring Township. She was 91.

Mrs. Parker was born Aug. 6, 1921, in what was then Hickory Township, a daughter of William and Clara Shingledecker Livermore.

She was a 1940 graduate of West Middlesex High School.

Mrs. Parker was a homemaker and attended Clark Trinity United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed quilting, gardening, playing the organ and being outdoors. Emma was a wonderful cook.

Her husband, Joseph McCleod Parker, whom she married July 2, 1942, passed away March 12, 1999.

She is survived by: two daughters, Connie L. Trump and her husband Ernest, Mercer; and Bonnie L. Lorigan and her husband Harry, Transfer; a son, Gary A. Parker and his wife Jennifer, Mercer; two sisters, Doris Ross, Masury; and Kathryn Livermore, Temple City, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Kimberly McBriar, Ernest Trump Jr., Dale Trump, Elizabeth Diefenderfer, Pam McKenna, Tammy Phillips, Jenny Parker, Melissa Bestwick and Megan Parker; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lois Ciscell and Marjorie Livermore; two brothers, Robert and Merle Livermore; and a half brother, Charles McCallen.

Calling hours are noon to time of service Monday (2-11-13) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. Condolences may be sent to our website at

Funeral service at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. William Locke, pastor of Clark Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
