Harrisville businessman was writer, avid traveler

PITTSBURGH — Thomas Edwin Rogers II, Glacial Till Road, Slippery Rock, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 in VA Health System of Pittsburgh. He was 65.

Mr. Rogers was born June 3, 1947 in Pittsburgh to Thomas E. Sr. and Louise W. Murphy Rogers.

He was a 1965 graduate of Moniteau High School, and attended Sligo schools.

He was an Air Force veteran, having served in Germany.

Mr. Rogers was formerly in business with his mother at Rogers Mobile Home Park, Harrisville. He was also a self-employed contractor who was involved in building alternative housing in the area. He built Liberty Gate Storage, Slippery Rock.

Mr. Rogers was a former member of Grove City Optimist Club. He was an avid book reader and liked making jewelry. He wrote fiction and historical background books. His writing included the Baby Grape series. He traveled throughout Europe and the Caribbean.

Surviving are: a son, Thomas Joseph "T.J." Rogers; a sister, Mary Louise "Mary Lou" Rogers, Grove City; and a nephew, Michael D. Rogers.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be no public visitation.

Memorial service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday (1-19-13) in Church of the Epiphany Episcopal, 870 Liberty St. Ext., Pine Township, with the Rev. Geoffrey M. Wild, officiating.
