Lorna M. Sonntag, formerly of Grove City and a resident for the past five years of Concordia at the Orchard, Butler, passed away at 9:20 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, in Concordia at the Orchard. She was 94.
Mrs. Sonntag was born Nov. 2, 1918, in Sharpsville to Martin L. and Pearl M. O'Donnell King.
She formerly was a secretary for many years at the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant.
At the age of 50, Lorna enrolled at Westminster College, New Wilmington, and graduated with a degree in teaching. For the next nine years, she taught school at Dassa McKinney Elementary School in Moniteau School District.
A homemaker, she was a member of Presbyterian Church in America, Washington Township, Lawrence County.
Her husband, George A. Sonntag, whom she married Aug. 8, 1951, died March 8, 2002.
Surviving are: three children, John Gills and his wife Barbara, Houston; Caryl Vlah and David Zibrat, Butler; and Shirley Richards, West Middlesex; five grandchildren, Kelly Campbell, Edinboro; Michelle Vlah and her husband Al Guggisberg, Healy, Alaska; Kirk Gills, Dallas; Ryan Gills, Huntsville, Ala.; and Ashley Rupert and her husband Dan, Mercer; five great-grandchildren, Emma, Aimee and Claire Campbell; and Karsyn and Luke Rupert.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Sonntag; a grandson, Bradley Richards; two brothers, Donnell and Martin King; and a son-in-law, Paul Richards.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday (3-14-13) in the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Tipton officiating.
Interment: Crestview Memorial Park Inc., Pine Township.
