GROVE CITY — Norman K. "Red" Hoffman of Ridgeway Avenue, Grove City, passed away at 11:13 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2013, in his residence after a four-month illness. He was 79.

Mr. Hoffman was born July 11, 1933, in Grove City to Gordon F. Hoffman and Edna I. Grandy Hoffman.

He was a graduate of Grove City High School, class of 1951.

Red retired in 1996 from the former Cooper Energy Service, Grove City, following 42 years of service. He started his career as an electrician and spent the last 23 years as a supervisor in the plant's maintenance department.

Mr. Hoffman served in the U.S. Army from June 1951 to June 1954 as a corporal in the 82nd Airborne Division. Red was active with the Grove City LeVet's Drill Squad.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Grove City.

His wife, the former Carol E. Lawson, whom he married Oct. 29, 1955, survives at home.

Also surviving are: three children, Karen D. Hoffman, Grove City; Kenneth D. Hoffman and his wife Christine, Oil City; and Kimberly D. Reynolds and her husband Charles "Ed" Reynolds, Jackson Center; eight grandchildren, Jared, Michael, Matthew, Carolyn, Christopher, Jassa, Linsey and Garrett; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Burdell F. and Ronald G. Hoffman.

Calling hours: 6 to 8 p.m. today (6-5-13) and noon to time of service Thursday (6-6-13) in CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

Service: Funeral service at 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. David L. Johnson, pastor of First Baptist Church, Grove City, officiating.

Interment: Crestview Memorial Park Inc., Pine Township.
