CLINTON TWP, Venango Co. —
Robert "Bob" S. Roll, 78, of Clinton Township, Venango County, formerly of Grove City, passed away in his home at 12:14 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013, following a brief illness.
Mr. Roll was born in Grove City on April 13, 1935, to Russell B. and Mary Steinman Roll.
Bob was a graduate of Grove City High School, class of 1953.
He attended the Bowman Technical Institute, Lancaster, Pa. and he served in the Navy in 1956 and 1957 as an instrument man during the Korean conflict.
Bob married Daryl L. Morrison on March 9, 1976.
He retired from the former Russell Roll Jewelers, Grove City, where he owned and operated the business from 1959 to 1982. He began his career there at a young age, working alongside his father, and learned the jewelry business. Bob was a certified master watchmaker and a registered jeweler with the American Gem Society.
Bob was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Emlenton, Venango County. During his retirement Bob and his wife were active with missionary trips visiting and helping Native American Indians in Arizona and New Mexico. Also, they both volunteered at Seneca Hills Bible Camp, Venango County, for seven years.
Bob was a member and past master of Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 603, Grove City.
He is survived by his wife; three children, Helen L. Roll and her husband Douglas, Indianapolis; Barbara A. Carrothers and her husband John, Sandy Lake; and Russell G. Roll and his wife Marion, Pittsburgh; and eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Helen Louise Roll.
