Theresa E. Plichta, a Grove City area resident since 1980, formerly of Brownsville, Pa., passed away at 2:32 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, in Orchard Manor, Pine Township, of an illness she'd had since Nov. 20, 2013. She was 99.
Mrs. Plichta was born March 18, 1914, in Brownsville, Fayette County, to Russell and Jose-phine Ellis Mercurio.
A homemaker, for many years she was a seamstress for the former Karts Department Store, Brownsville, where she worked in its bridal department.
She was a member of Church of the Beloved Disciple, Pine Township, and formerly belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Brownsville.
Theresa was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Christian Mothers in Brownsville.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed crocheting and making gifts for others.
Her husband, Albert William Plichta, whom she married Nov. 25, 1935, passed away May 12, 1976.
Surviving are: two daughters, Patricia Walters and her husband William, Grove City, with whom she lived; and Mary Alice Plichta, Redding, Calif.; three granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; a nephew and four nieces.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, William "Bill" A. Plichta; and a brother, Anthony Mercurio.

Service: Mass of Christian burial was Tuesday in the church, with the Rev. Michael P. Allison and Monsignor Edward J. Zeitler, concelebrating.
Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Brownsville.
