Reznor retiree belonged to Beloved Disciple church

PINE — Warren D. Hedglin, a resident for more than 50 years of 15 George Junior Road, Pine Township, passed away Saturday evening, Sept. 7, 2013, in his Grove City-area residence. He was 89.

Mr. Hedglin was born Jan. 1, 1924, in the Village of Brent to Herman E. and Ruby A. Hedglin Hedglin.

He retired in 1987 from Reznor -- a unit of Thomas & Betts, Mercer.

A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Hedglin served during World War II in the 101st Airborne, earning a Purple Heart. He was a member of American Legion Post 220, Grove City, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7465, Brent.

He was a member of Church of the Beloved Disciple, Pine Township.

His wife, the former Pauline V. Sepik, whom he married in August 1947, passed away March 7, 2009.

Surviving are: a daughter, Debra Benalli, Jemez Springs, N.M.; four grandchildren, Heather Harrison, New Mexico; Matthew Shanahan, Texas; Christina Stavneak, Omaha, Neb.; and Joshua Hedglin, Brooklyn, N.Y.; two great-granddaughters, Anna and Amina Rose Stavneak; and a sister, Sandra Hockenberry and her husband John, Grove City.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Warren Joseph 'Joe' Hedglin, 1994.

Service and interment: Graveside committal service with military honors at 10 a.m. Thursday (9-12-13) at Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township.
