Rosemary Kennedy, formerly of Spring Street, Grove City, passed away Wednesday evening, March 6, 2013, in Orchard Manor, Pine Township. She was 94.
Mrs. Kennedy was born Sept. 17, 1918, in the Village of Pardoe, Findley Township, to Carl and Mary Jenkins Stewart.
Rosemary attended Grove City schools, riding the train daily from Pardoe to Grove City until the family moved to town following her first-grade school year.
She graduated from Grove City High School in 1935 and attended her first two years of college in Battle Creek, Mich.
Her final two years of college were spent at Iowa State College, where she graduated in 1940 with a degree in food and nutrition.
In March 1943, she joined the Army and served on a hospital ship in Okinawa until she was discharged in December 1945 as a first lieutenant.
Returning to Grove City, she met Jack Kennedy, whom she married December 1946. He preceded her in death Dec. 8, 1986.
Rosemary was a homemaker and stay-at-home mother until both of her children were in school.
She then became a social worker for Mercer County Child Welfare and later spent the next 17 years as a dietitian for the former Grove City Hospital and Bashline Memorial Hospital, semi-retiring in 1980.
At that time, she became a consulting dietitian for Grove Manor, Grove City; Orchard Manor, Pine Township; and the former Mercer County Home.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City.
During retirement, Rosemary enjoyed cooking, reading, growing flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed being with friends, playing bridge and going to a book club.
Rosemary is survived by a son, Carl Kennedy and his wife Colleen, Norristown, Pa.; a daughter, Laura Kennedy, Grove City; a granddaughter, Dr. Holly Kennedy-Hansen and her husband Brandon, Castle Rock, Colo.; and a brother, William Charles "Chuck" Stewart and his wife Nikki, Minneapolis, Minn.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Kathryn Rodgers.
Memorial contributions may be made in Rosemary's memory to Orchard Manor for use in Sunshine Way, 20 Orchard Drive, Grove City, PA 16127.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday (3-11-13) in the funeral home with the Rev. Brian Heckman officiating.
Interment: Crestview Memorial Park Inc., Pine Township.
