Marian M. "Maxine" Hutcheson

Business graduate was tax collector for 20 years

PINE — Marian M. "Maxine" Hutcheson, Orchard Manor, 20 Orchard Drive, Pine Township, formerly of Slippery Rock Township, passed away at Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township, 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 07, 2013. She was 87.

Mrs. Hutcheson was born Nov. 27, 1925 in Portersville to Joy Oliver Laderer and Anna Louise Barkley Laderer.

She graduated from Butler Business College.

Mrs. Hutcheson worked for the Butler Farm Bureau (now called Agway); and First National Bank, Slippery Rock. She was a substitute rural mail carrier for five years at the Slippery Rock Post Office. She served 20 years as an elected tax collector for Slippery Rock Township, Slippery Rock Area School District and Butler County, retiring in January of 1990.

She was a member of Center Presbyterian Church, Slippery Rock, were she had previously been a Sunday School teacher; deacon; and active in the Women's Association of the Church.

Mrs. Hutcheson was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Frank P. Cheeseman Unit for over 60 years; and the American Association for Retired Persons. She enjoyed reading.

She married Jack Edward Hutcheson on May 14, 1948. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1986. 

Surviving are: a son, Thomas E. Hutcheson, husband of Barbara, Slippery Rock; a daughter, Jody Bond, Tallahassee, Fla.; two brothers, Ernest Laderer, Portersville; Harold Laderer, husband of Doris, Portersville; three grandchildren, Kimberly McConnell  of St. Leo, Fla.; Daniel McConnell, Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Gregory McConnell, Grove City; a great-granddaughter, Summer Leigh Monta–o McConnell, Albuquerque; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Hutcheson was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; three sisters, Ruth Rowe, Eleanor Miller and Alma Jean Humphrey; and a brother, Richard Laderer.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Orchard Manor and Grove City Medical Center for the special care they gave Marian.

Memorial service: Was Tuesday in the funeral home, with Rev. William Mumaw II , pastor of Center Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Interment: Slippery Rock Cemetery.
