William L. Hodge

WWII Navy vet belonged to Grace United Methodist

GROVE CITY — William L. Hodge, Pine Township, died at 5:15 a.m. Thursday (3-28-13) in Grove Manor, Grove City. He was 87.

Mr. Hodge was born Jan. 16, 1926 in Grove City to Paul and Louella Weaver Hodge.

Mr. Hodge served with the Navy during World War II.

He retired from Cooper Energy Services, Grove City.

Mr. Hodge was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 519 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1895, both Grove City; and American Legion Post 852, Harrisville.

He married Jane D. Opherman on June 14, 1947. She survives.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Susie Dolan, Pittsburgh; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert R. Hodge; and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Hodge, both Grove City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, William P. and Terry L. Hodge; a grandson, Jamie L. Dolan; a sister, Roberta (Bertie) Labor; and two brothers, Richard D. and Donald Hodge.

Calling hours: Were Saturday (3-30-13) at Grace United Methodist Church, 210 S. Broad St., Grove City, in the chapel of the church. Arrangements by CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

Service: Was Saturday in the church chapel with the Rev. Howard Greenfield, pastor, officiating.
