David Lynn Shaw

GC man was faithful husband, father, friend

BUTLER — David Lynn Shaw, Grove City, went to be with the Lord at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday (3-27-13) at VNA Hospice Center, Butler. He was 72.

Mr. Shaw was born Sep. 26, 1940 in New Castle to the late Gaylord Lynn and Ruth Adams Shaw.

David graduated from Grove City High School in 1958; and attended Grove City College.

For more than 44 years, he was a valuable employee of the Office of Personnel Management, later the Retirement Operations Center, in Boyers, where he worked first as a file clerk and later as a claims examiner.

David was a faithful member of Nashua Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Edinburg.

He loved singing hymns, providing a listening ear and praying for those in need around him.

David was a best friend to many and he enjoyed spending time in his gardens, playing tennis and spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren.

His wife, the former Shirley Mae Lawrence, whom he married Nov. 30, 1968, and had 44 wonderful, happy years together, survives.

Also surviving are: a son, Kevin Shaw and his wife, Tammy; and their children, Christopher and Julia, all of Grove City; and numerous friends and family who have been touched by this great man.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gaylord Lynn Shaw Jr.; and a sister, Janet Leila Shaw.

Calling hours: Were Monday (4-1-2013) in CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

Service: Funeral was Tuesday (4-2-13) in the funeral home, with the Rev. Steven Miller, pastor of Nashua Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Edinburg, officiating.

Burial: South Plain Grove Cemetery.
