Robert F. "Posy" Flowers

Hardware store co-owner was WWII Army veteran

PINE — Robert F. "Posy" Flowers, Kocher Drive, Grove City, died at 5 a.m. Friday (12-28-12) in Orchard Manor, Pine Township. He was 91.

He was born April 22, 1921, in Harmony to William J. and Myrtle (Fehl) Flowers. On Dec. 7, 1946, he married Georgia "Becky" Star. She survives.

Bob was in business with his brother William and they operated Flowers Hardware in downtown Grove City from 1949 to 1988.

He was a member of East Main Presbyterian Church, Grove City.

Bob, known to many as "Posy," grew up in Butler and was a graduate of Butler High School, Class of 1939. 

He was a musician and formerly played trumpet in orchestras and bands in the Butler area and during his military career.

He served in the U.S. Army during WW II from September 1942 to January 1946. He was an avid bowler and golfer and formerly he was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and  Kiwanis, both of Grove City.

In addition to his wife, at home, he is survived by a daughter, Robyn Reeher and husband Gene, Portersville; and a son, Timothy R. Flowers, Grove City; four grandchildren; Justin R. Flowers, Fayetteville, N.C., Nikita D. Flowers, Grove City, Alexis A. Reeher and Ian K. Reeher, both Portersville, Pa.; and one great-grandson, Eli Flowers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William J. Flowers.

Calling hours were Sunday (12-30-12) in Cunningham Funeral Home, Grove City.

Funeral services were Monday (12-31-12) in the funeral home.

Entombment in Zelienople Community Cemetery Mausoleum.

Memorials can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
