Incumbent SR directors battle

SLIPPERY ROCK — Incumbents Mark Taylor and David F. Hutner battled it out for one spot on Slippery Rock school board in Tuesday’s general election and Taylor came out the winner, according to unofficial results.

Figures from the Butler County elections website show Republican Taylor received 405 votes and Democrat Hutner brought in 224.

They were in the running for a two-year seat to represent Region 1, which covers Harrisville borough and Mercer and Slippery Rock townships. Both men live in Slippery Rock Township.

In Harrisville, Taylor got 108 votes and Hutner, 36; Mercer Township - Taylor, 66, and Hutner, 37; and Slippery Rock Township - Taylor, 231, and Hutner, 151.

Taylor was appointed to the board in December to fill a vacancy and Hutner is finishing his fourth year on the board.
