Pantry requests fruit, radio broadcast set, stores offer deals

GROVE CITY — Fruits and fruit juices are some of the Grove City Community Food Pantry’s favorite choices, but as winter goes on, the stock dwindles.

That is why the pantry is requesting this delicious and nutritious food for their shelves during February.

Whether it is just one can or an entire case, these donations will put a smile on the faces of all of the clients at the pantry.

Some of the items that the food pantry is requesting are:

-- Any shelf-stable canned fruit, such as peaches, pears, mandarin oranges, and pineapple.

-- Shelf-stable 100 percent fruit juice.

-- Shelf-stable fruit products, such as applesauce, apple butter, fruit cocktail, fruit snacks, and fruit roll-ups.

-- Fresh fruit of any kind.

-- Dried fruit, such as raisins, prunes, dates, apricots, apples, and berries.

-- Fruit for special diets, such as water-packed or “no sugar added” fruit products.

Tax-deductible contributions will be gratefully accepted at 114. S. Center St., in person, through the mail, or through the secure online donation feature at www.gccommunityfoodpantry.org

Also, Ithen Global, next to the N. Broad Street railroad tracks in downtown Grove City, is holding a $1 T-shirt sale and is donating $1 to the food pantry for every T-shirt purchased through the end of February.

In addition, anyone who brings in 10 or more canned goods will receive a free Pittsburgh T-shirt of their choice.

And during February, all adult clothing at Grove City Community Food Pantry’s Thrifty Threads thrift shop is half price, which means a bag of six or seven items can be bought for only $1.

All proceeds go directly to the pantry, which this month is requesting fruit and fruit-related products.

Tax-deductible donations can also be accepted at 114 S. Center St. or through the secure website: www.gccommunityfoodpantry.org

The food pantry is on Facebook and is supported by Grove City Area United Way, organizations, churches, and individuals throughout the community. Anyone in need of food pantry services or anyone interested in volunteering can call Traci Turner at 724-458-5208.
