BUTLER, MERCER COUNTY AREAS —
As the holiday season winds down, make sure to plan ahead on recycling your live Christmas tree.
Here are some local options for being green with your greenery:
■ A customer service representative at Tri-County Industries Inc. in Pine Township said to check with your township or borough office on whether trees will be collected with your regular garbage pickup since it varies from municipality to municipality.
Also, make sure to remove all garland, lights, ornaments and decorations from the trees before recycling, and artificial trees won't be accepted.
■ The borough of Grove City's public works department will be picking up residents' trees dropped off at neighborhood playgrounds on Terrace, Stewart and Rainey avenues, and Greenwood Drive, and McConnell and Union streets.
The trees will be mulched for the use of residents along with compost, which is stored at the recycling area off of Greenwood.
