GROVE CITY — Tedd Nesbit, a long time resident of Grove City, announced that he is seeking the Republican nomination for the 8th State House District of the Pennsylvania General Assembly. Rep. Richard Stevenson, who represents the 8th District, announced he will not seek re-election.

"I believe my diverse background and education make me uniquely qualified to continue the tradition of excellence that Richard Stevenson exemplified," Nesbit said.

Nesbit is an assistant district attorney in Mercer County and a partner in Bartholomew, Mudrinich & Nesbit, which has offices in Grove City and Hermitage. He has been a guardian ad litem for Mercer County Children and Youth Services and a solicitor for several municipalities in Mercer County. He has represented individuals and businesses in state and federal court.

"I want to help Pennsylvania move forward and become a state where our children have the opportunity to find good-paying jobs, buy a home and be able to educate and raise their families."

He says that Pennsylvania needs to create a business climate where business owners are able to hire new employees. As a state representative, Nesbit said, "I want our state to work with businesses and not against them by keeping taxes and regulations low."

"Having worked with local governments, I see the strain placed on county and local governments to provide necessary services," Nesbit said.

"As a business owner with employees, I understand the struggle of trying to cover a payroll in today's economy. I have friends and family members that have lost their jobs in this down economy and think we can do better."

Nesbit has served East Main Church as an elder and a youth choir director and has served as president of the Grove City United Way. He is also the coach for the Slippery Rock Community Swim Team.

He resides in Grove City with his wife, Shannon, and his children.
