For the second time in less than a week, a hit list has been discovered in Grove City Area School District.
An eighth grade female student created a hit list comprised of 14 students entitled “A list of people I would kill,” according to superintendent Robert Post.
The list was discovered on April 9, just six days after a “murder list” was found at the high school.
Post said a parent informed the district of the list and the response was swift.
“The girl was cooperative and produced the list (when asked),” he said. “We have no evidence that she was going to physically harm (anyone) or had the means to (carry out the list).”
Post said Grove City Borough Police were immediately notified. Officers are currently investigating the incident but no further details are being released at this time, according to a police report.
The 14-year-old student has also been suspended from school for a minimum of three days pending further investigation, Post said.
According to Post, school policy dictates that initial suspensions are always for three days. At the end of the three-day period, a hearing will be held before middle school principal Jim Anderson to determine if the suspension should continue for up to 10 days.
Classes at the middle school were not disrupted as a result of the hit list as it was discovered late in the afternoon, Post said.
According to Post, students on the list included middle school and high school students as well as another pupil who has since moved away. Parents of all the students involved were contacted, he added.
Earlier this week, two Grove City Area High School students were charged with making terroristic threats for creating a “murder list” that included the names of 48 teachers and students.
A ninth grader, 15, and 11th grader, 17, will face the charges in juvenile court, according to a Grove City Borough Police report. No court date has been set at this time.
The school district was notified of the hit list last Friday when another student, whose name was on the list, informed principal Joseph Skibinski that she had seen it, Post said.
The charges were recommended by the district attorney’s office, the release stated.
The youths were also suspended by the school district, according to superintendent Robert Post. A formal school board disciplinary hearing will be scheduled for the two girls, after which the board will determine if any additional measures should be taken, including further suspension or expulsion.
