    Grove City Area School District’s top administrator expressed sympathy for all those affected by two hit lists discovered in the district earlier this month.
    “I can only imagine the shock, uneasiness and fear that students may have felt,” superintendent Robert Post said during a April 14 school board meeting. “I can also imagine how angry, hurt and afraid your parents may have felt.”

    The owner and founder of Milk Transport Inc. apologized to about 20 former employees for the company’s financial woes during a bankruptcy court meeting last Tuesday.
    Blaine Hovis Sr., who created MTI 55 years ago, could only manage a few statements before breaking down in tears.

  • Police probe second Grove City school hit list
    For the second time in less than a week, a hit list has been discovered in Grove City Area School District.
    An eighth grade female student created a hit list comprised of 14 students entitled “A list of people I would kill,” according to superintendent Robert Post.

  • SRU student asks for safer crosswalks
    Following a pedestrian accident on Main Street, Erin Berger came to Slippery Rock Borough Council to see what can be done to improve pedestrian safety for students.
    Berger, representing Slippery Rock University student government, said she had visited with Nicole Rieder, who had been struck by a vehicle in the crosswalk from campus to Kraus Hall.

  • Teens face charges for ‘murder list’
    Two Grove City Area High School students have been charged with making terroristic threats for creating a “murder list” that included the names of 48 teachers and students.
    A ninth grader, 15, and 11th grader, 17, will face the charges in juvenile court, according to a Grove City Borough Police report. No court date has been set at this time.

  • Olde Town Grove City will welcome new businesses in 2008
    Things are looking good for Olde Town Grove City in the new year.
    Four new downtown businesses will open in 2008, adding to the five businesses that joined Olde Town last year.
    Four downtown projects have also been proposed for 2008, including a new art mural on the side of the Guthrie Theater.

  • More complaints surface about Kelly Boulevard
    The citizens’ input slot on the Slippery Rock Council agenda was particularly quiet Tuesday as the usually outspoken Slippery Rock area citizens Chuck Brochetti and Frank Monteleone sat back and observed.
    At the Slippery Rock Borough Council meeting, Mike McDonald, owner of an office building on Kelly Boulevard, presented a storm water problem on that property.
