Camera Club photos to be in GC, Mercer

MERCER COUNTY -- The New Castle Camera Club’s winning photos from the recent show at The Hoyt Institute of Fine Art in New Castle will be on display in two Mercer County locations.

Creative Framing, 235 S. Broad St. in Grove City, will display the photos until June 16. Hours are 10 to 5 p.m. weekdays and most Saturdays.

Then, from June 19-30, the photos will be on display at the Mercer library, 110 Venango St. Library hours are: 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday  and  9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; 8 to noon Saturday. It’s closed Sunday and Monday.

Tour of Mercer County ride is June 16

MERCER COUNTY -- The Tour of Mercer County, presented by Mercer County Trails Association, will take place on Saturday, June 16, starting at Quaker State and Lube in Sharon, rain or shine.

The ride will benefit the MCTA, a volunteer non-profit corporation building multi-use recreational trails in the county.

There will be four routes available, ranging from 15, 35, 65 and 100 miles throughout Mercer County. All century riders will have a hot meal at the primary rest station that will be set up at Goddard State Park near the mid-way point.

All other riders will receive snacks, fruits and beverages at various places along the routes.

There will be support vehicles patrolling the course but bikes should be in good working order and riders are encouraged to bring tubes, patches, tools, pumps and other repair items. Helmets are required. Those who register by June 1 will get a discount and those who pre-register will receive a free shirt.

Munnell hosts ‘Secrets of Indian Medicine Man’

COOLSPRING TOWNSHIP -- Munnell Run Farm hosts a public one-hour nature walk at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. June 7.

Learn how local Indians practiced their “woods wisdom” to treat ailments, successfully hunt for and use plans for food and medicine.

This easy walk is great for families to enjoy nature and also rediscover many lost secrets of the Pennsylvania forest. Munnell Run Farm located at 753 Greenville Road, Coolspring Township.
