Summer Reading Programs


MERCER COUNTY AREA —  June 19 – Bats

Special school age events

 Dragonfly Balloons will be at the library for a balloon twisting workshop from 10 a.m. to noon June 21.

The cost is $10 per child. Event is for those in first grade and older. Register before by June 15.

 “If The Shoe Fits: Cinderella Stories from Around the World” for girls in first through fifth grade, each week at 2 p.m. June 19 through July 17.

Girls will hear a different Cinderella story and make a special Cinderella craft. Each girl will receive a “Fairy Godmother Card” that will be punched each time they come.

Prizes will be awarded for those who attend all six sessions.

Registration is required.

 Stuffed Animal Sleepover for children in grades first to sixth may bring a stuffed animal friend to the library at 4 p.m. June 28 for a very special “animal sleepover.”

The children will not sleep over but their stuffed friends will.

Come dressed in your pajamas and listen to bedtime stories and have a snack.

Come back the next morning at 10 a.m. and pick up your friend, have donuts and juice and receive a picture of what your animal did in the library after everyone was gone for the night.  Registration is required if possible.

 Superhero Day, 10:30 a.m. July 12 at the Grove City Park. Please wear your favorite super hero costume or make up a super hero of your own. Be ready to participate in many hero activities. Registration is required.

 Tie-Dye Dream Pillowcases, for grades first through sixth, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. July 19 at Grove City Park. Each person is ask to bring their own clean, white pillowcase and please wear old clothes. Registration is required.

 Dream Big Family Movie Night events for all ages will begin at 5:30 p.m. Bring your own drinks. June 22 will be Walt Disney’s “Aladdin,” and July 13, “Monsters Inc.”

 LEGO Club meetings run from 1 to 2:30 p.m. June 18 and July 19.

    CDR Raymond Batz, MC, USN, wing surgeon, Second Marine Aircraft Wing (2d MAW) and 1988 graduate of Grove City Area High School and 1992 graduate of Grove City College, was surprised to find two other GCHS graduates -- Lt. Col. Bill 'Kelvin' Sauerland and Lt. Ian Uber -- among the officers of 2d MAW on the same base near Havelock, N.C., often at the same meeting.

    Registration is now open for free National Ground Water Association webinars to help household water well owners keep their water safe.
    The toll-free private well owner hotline at 855-420-9355. There are free online well owner lessons on about a variety of topics relating to water wells, including water quality.
